Planting on the flood plain of the Werribee River at Surbiton Park

werribee river x200 We are planning to plant Common tussock grass on a site which was previously a market garden on the flood plain of the Werribee River at Surbiton Park on Sunday morning 9th July from 9am -12 noon.

Meet at the gate with the green Land for Wildlife sign on Mt. Cottrell Road, between Boundary and Greigs Roads, Melway map 221 H7

Morning tea is provided, and if the weather is good we will go on an exploratory walk afterwards.

If you are free to join us we would be delighted to see you.

We expect to see plenty of native birds at this picturesque site, with its large deep pools flowing between ancient Red Gum & Blue Box trees. A recently occupied Wedge-tailed Eagle nest overlooks the river here. We may hopefully see eagles soaring above, or even perched in trees,  as this is a popular site for them. There also is the possibility of seeing local wallabies, or even perhaps a Platypus (if we are extremely lucky!)
