On Friday 12th July Frances, Irene. Rosemary and Daryl of PLEG joined Friends of Cobbledick Ford and City of Wyndham. The newly formed Friends group had invited PLEG to join them planting on the floodplain between the Reserve and the Ford. We planted 500 Microlaena and 100 Poa labilliere (supplied by Wyndham City Council and grown by Newport Lakes Nursery) to help stabilise the soil in the event of flooding under the leadership of Vanessa Hutchins of Wyndham. The dense Poa tussocks especially should shelter the soil in floods. The soil here is quite unstable due to the removal of large volumes of topsoil.

After planting we enjoyed a BBQ lunch provided by NatureWest and John Marks.

PLEG has been active at Cobbledicks since the early 2000's and before that in the 90's with Truganina Landcare Group.
